"Celebration of Women" opening at the XU Cohen Center

Last night was the opening of the show to mark the 40th anniversary of women at Xavier. The crowd of art enthusiasts were treated to a provocative show as well as yummy food and plenty of spirits. Jessica Flores served as juror for the show and chose 56 pieces from over 350 entries. Local painter Shirley Findsen and I were the only Cincinnati artists in attendance last night, as well as represented in the show. The grand prize went to a Columbus artist named Stephanie Rond, who made the trip. She was surprised and thrilled that her piece entitled “War on Beauty” won the top honors. She will now have a solo show at the XU art gallery in 2010. If you have a chance to check out this show, it is up until Nov. 8th.
