Friday, December 7th was the opening of the first nationally juried show in the Xavier University Art Gallery. Daniel Brown was the juror and Kitty Uetz, gallery director and Xavier professor, organized the exhibit. The evening was a refreshing break from outdoor venues and a wonderful chance to meet artists and talk art. The highlight of my evening was meeting the university president, Fr. Michael J. Graham, and Daniel Brown, and finding out that they are fans of my work! All in all, it was a great evening and a show that shouldn’t be missed. The printmaking is extraordinary.
P.S. On Wednesday, December 12th, Xavier hosted a panel discussion in the larger gallery. Several well known area art critics and speakers interacted with current XU students about this specific show as well as the state of the arts in the United States today. It was lively and inspiring. Thanks XU for the opportunity to attend and observe, and thanks Mr. Brown for the kind comments. You certainly have insight into this piece of my work, as well as the works of others!
