Art at the X Preview Event

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Friday, December 7th was the opening of the first nationally juried show in the Xavier University Art Gallery. Daniel Brown was the juror and Kitty Uetz, gallery director and Xavier professor, organized the exhibit. The evening was a refreshing break from outdoor venues and a wonderful chance to meet artists and talk art. The highlight of my evening was meeting the university president, Fr. Michael J. Graham, and Daniel Brown, and finding out that they are fans of my work! All in all, it was a great evening and a show that shouldn’t be missed. The printmaking is extraordinary.

P.S. On Wednesday, December 12th, Xavier hosted a panel discussion in the larger gallery. Several well known area art critics and speakers interacted with current XU students about this specific show as well as the state of the arts in the United States today. It was lively and inspiring. Thanks XU for the opportunity to attend and observe, and thanks Mr. Brown for the kind comments. You certainly have insight into this piece of my work, as well as the works of others!

Indigenous-A BEST OF CINCINNATI!

Friday, November 16th, 2007

It will hit the stands on Tuesday, November 20th- the Best of Cincinnati issue of Cincinnati Magazine. Indigenous, A Handcrafted Gallery, is dubbed “Best Crafty Gifts” in this year’s issue. Ok, we don’t love the word “crafty,” but quite an amazing accomplishment for Diane and Co. for only being open a year. Check out their extensive inventory of arty items including my multiple dog portraits. There are 5″ singles this year, as well as 8″ and 12″ multiples. (I received a mention in the “Best of” article for these dog lover’s treats, and I have even reluctantly painted a couple of cats!)

Art at the X

Great news! My latest piece, “Dinner for One” has been accepted for a nationally juried show at the Xavier University art gallery. The artists’ reception is Friday, December 7th from 6-8 in the Xavier University art gallery. It was a tough jury, 88 pieces selected from 485 entries. I am really pleased to be represented in this show. The grand prize winner will win a solo show for the 2008 Xavier schedule. That will be announced at the reception. You may want to check out this show.

Leapin Lizards!

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Check out some of my new work at the Leapin Lizard Gallery in Covington Main Strasse! You may participate in the Northern Kentucky art scene every FIRST FRIDAY of the month. It is a great art destination. There are many fun bars and restaurants too. This gallery has some wonderful art by local artists as well as from around the country. The owners have visited the best shows to acquire unique and special pieces. You can see/buy great metal sculptures and jewelry; glass, ceramics and, of course, paintings/prints by yours truly! The building is a rennovated church that provides a wonderful backdrop for their eclectic art displays. Not far away is the Marx, that has a wonderful painting exhibit right now. Plan a visit to this gallery soon. You will love it!

Deck the Walls……. and more!

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

You can now see original “Little Miami Bike Trail” and many of my other works at Deck the Walls. Deck the Walls is located across from the Kenwood Towne Center on Kenwood Road in the former Sterling Cut Glass location. The new store is filled with prints and lithos as well as everything you need for framing. Owner Ken Rubin is trying to break the stereotype of a “mall poster” store by adding original art by local artists. You can see a large display of my work there now and through the holidays. AND if you buy one of my pieces, or just stop in and bring one of my cards (or really, mention my name), you will receive 30% off of your framing order! That’s 30% OFF! Let me know how you like the display. Check out this store! It is next to IM Hopple and a step away from Dewey’s Pizza. They also have some great Charley Harper prints.
Stay tuned, more big news coming very soon!

We had a shade tree!

What an art-filled weekend! Saturday night the Brick Auction artists’ appreciation dinner was wonderful. The women who put this together really did a first rate job. Our hosts, the Sosnas, opened their incredible home to us and made us feel oh so appreciated! The Hyde Park Art Show was another amazing show. In spite of the heat, the people were there. Lots of sales and new commissions; friends and fellow artists. Watch for some new gallery relationships! I can’t spill it yet, but it’s in the works. It was also fun to see some former students. Next up- I’ll let you know!
